Star Wars Weddings: You Gotta Love Them
Posted by Jason on February 10, 2010 at 01:29 PM CST:

We received this e-mail from a ForceCast listener. Needless to say, he's one lucky groom. Check out his story, video, and especially the pictures!

As a long time Forcecast enthusiast, I wanted to share with you a very special event that just happened in my life. On October 25th, 2009 I was married to my beautiful fiance, Sarah. The wedding was a complete success, that is until someone stood up to oppose the marriage. However, he was quickly silenced by a pair of Stormtrooper security guards. The ceremony hit another tragic bump when the best man forgot the wedding rings. If it weren't for ring bearers R2-D2 and C-3PO, Sarah and I couldn't have completed our vows in holy matrimony.

We then took our honeymoon to the birthplace of Star Wars production - jolly old England! Sarah and I visited (the outside) of Elstree Studios and then paid resects to the land that once housed The Empire Strikes Back stages, which has given way to the Tesco Extra superstore. (I was quickly escorted out when I let out a Vader-esque, 'Nooooooooooooooo' in the middle of home electronics).

The next day my lovely wife Sarah surprised me by planning a trip north of London to Whippendell Woods where Lucas and crew shot the amazing Naboo forest scenes for 'The Phantom Menace'. However, trying to match specific trees in a sprawling forest almost got the better of us if not for a passing ranger who, when asked if he happened to know where the Star Wars location was, pointed to a spot which was literally a hundred feet away. The Force was truly with us.

I want to thank everyone for making my wedding and honeymoon a monumental event. I would like to thank my security Stormtroopers, Josh Miller and Mark Calderon. Returning as my R2-D2 operator, Victor Franco. Ian Martin who was one heck of a sport for donning the C-3PO outfit for as long as he did. And most important of all, (cue french horn) my lovely bride Sarah who made all my dreams come true.

So, congratulations to Richard and Sarah. It sounds like you two are a great couple. Nothing better for a marriage than a healthy foundation like appreciation for our partner's passions!
